During weekly stays in a deserted urban landscape in Copenhagen, I have in the past year developed a series of operational artifacts and sensory devices to associate myself with a strong inherent force emanating from this landscape. The environment and the physical conditions that form the basis of the nature of this landscape are best described as extremely contrasting. It is in the landscape’s complex relationship between silence and grandeur, brutality, and fragility that something arouses my curiosity and makes me return so often. Especially in the evening, I visit the area, walking, to best connect to the intimate space that the landscape (despite its vast extent) possesses. In the slow and vulnerable state of transformation of the landscape, I sense that an inner life of the landscape has opened for interaction. In the presence of this unknown dimension, I experiment with improvised and intuitive exercises for a better understanding of the landscape in relation to my own and others’ presence.I search the area for other activity and rematerialize the traces I find through physical sculpting. It is a form of archaeology in reverse, where information is obtained in the evolution of a found object rather than in the analysis of a found object.
